Is it Hutu and Tutsi or Tutu and Hutsi?
Power (2003) describes genocide as "the problem from hell." The genocide that swept over Rwanda left no sector of society intouched. This presentation will provide a theoretical examination of history and memory represented in two virtual memorials created in response to the 1994 Rwandan Genocide by Chilean artist, Alfredo Jaar and Ghanaian artist, Kofi Setordji . A conceptual framework for looking at societal issues like genocide through the visual arts, in arts education contexts will be shared as a bridge between theory and practice.
